Serial number 72735 for 1954; bearing the By Appointment attribution for the Late King George VI as swords early into Queen Elizabeth the Second’s reign did. It may be possible to determine the original officer with Royal Armouries for their was £? (too late, now sold) Wilkinson Sword ;edger research fee.
The 32 1/4 inch blade has some age and freckles but is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The plated steel hilt / guard with some small crazing but is good, a light rust to the inside. The fishskin grip with some fading and wear is still good; the twisted grip wire binding present and correct. The leather field service scabbard has age, wear and some small leather holes towards the chape but is sound to good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
