No scabbard, and hasn’t seen a scabbard for a long time going by the aging wear to the blade. Some period nicks to the cutting edge of that blade show it is a likely a dropped in battle sword. Single rack / weapon number “629”; single number means hilt original to blade . The date inscription to the spine has gone but the poinçons to the blade of Krantz, Bick and Lobstein confirm the blade and thereby the sword was made between 9th March 1812 and 1st August 1814 (see dates for Krantz), just before Waterloo. Sabre has been in the UK for some time so again fits in with being a battlefield pickup trophy.
The 34 inch blade has age wear but is in good condition, save for a few period combat nicks to the cutting edge, and firm in the hilt. Brass hilt / guard with some scrapes and a partial tear to the backpiece add to the likelihood that this is a fallen sword. Original grip good but worn through in places, indicating much use; the brass olive are present and good.
