Confirmed by Royal Armouries by reference to their copy of the Wilkinson Sword sales ledger, this is the sword of 2nd Lieutenant / Lieutenant / Captain / Major Tolson of the Royal Sussex regiment and then Special Operations Executive; his history and photo can be viewed here. Serial number 67018 for 26/08/1938.
The 32 1/4 inch blade has wear / age but is overall good to very good and firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard with a few speckles is nonetheless very good. The original sword knot is good. The fishskin grip has some wear but is still good, as are the associated twisted grip wire bindings. The plated steel scabbard is sound but has small patches of plating bubble / loss. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Nice example, named interesting officer, can’t go wrong at was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item Z12. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box n/a
