We believe this to be just pre-WW2, so Taisho period. Not the best blade ever out of Japan but one side shows quality and the fittings (tsuba, etc.) are very good.
The 20 3/4 inch nagasa (cutting edge section) blade is in fair condition, some hamon evident, some scratches / wear, three old nicks to the forward cutting edge. The furniture (tsuka) and fittings (tsuba, fuchi, menuki and kashira) all good to very good; the tsuba is probably worth half our price for the whole sword. The saya with chips / wear. The sword sheathes and draws well.
The fittings are probably worth our price on their own. The whole wakizashi for just was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference Y97. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1513-81x18x16 (1.236).
