Wilkinson made swords for Gieves. This one is pretty much parade ground condition save for a faded spot to the scabbard (boot polish should resolve this).
The 31 3/4 inch blade is supremely well etched and in very good condition (some wear / scuffing), plus firm in the hilt. The hilt is very good with virtually all gilt remaining. The sword knot is good but a little frayed in places and has lost its clasp. The faux fishskin grip is very good as are the twisted grip wire bindings, although a lesser strand is a little astray on the top turn. The scabbard is very good overall. The folding guard section works well and locates onto the scabbard securing pin as it should. The sword sheathes and draws well. The belts have wear but are good.
Quality sadly no longer seen on new swords today. Yours for was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference Y90. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1497-117x15x14 (2.038).
