We have translated the two character tang blade maker’s signature as “Yoshinobu”; above is a Seki acceptance stamp. The three characters on the obverse are not a date, but likely a battle cry. The ito (silk grip bindings / covering) we had replaced as the original was falling apart; some people “age” new ito with oil to claim it is original.

The 23 1/4 inch nagasa (cutting edge section) blade is in good condition with hamon visible. Blade firm in tsuka. The fittings / furniture generally good to very good though the saya / scabbard and kashira / pommel cap are aged and have wear / knocks. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Above average example. Below average price. was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference Y64. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1459-110x12x12 (1.781).
