Etched to cutler William J Waterer of Carnaby Street (Regent Street / Parish of Regent) London. The top scabbard locket engraved with the officer’s initials “A.B.G.T.”, raising the prospect that the Royal Naval officer may be able to be fully identified with research.

The 18 1/4 inch blade is in fair to good condition, the etching still clear, some cleaned rust pitting, firm in the hilt. The hilt generally very good. The fishskin grip has a couple or so of nodules missing / worn, but is overall good. The leather and brass scabbard is good, some scuffs / wear but not too much. The scabbard retaining mechanism works well. The dirk sheathes and draws well.
Good honest example with research potential. Nicely priced at (was) £575, now £460 . Please quote item reference Y62. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1462-71x11x11 (0.998).
