Etched to “Hill, Norfolk St, Sheffield” to the ricasso; Hill was a sword cutler fro only 1912 to 1915, so the officer would have served in WW1 most likely at the outset. The steel (not plated) large guard and blade etching so typical of Sheffield made swords.
The 32 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard also very good, as are the black fishskin grip and associated grip wire bindings, The leather field service scabbard good but with some scuffs / wear. The sword sheathes and draws well.
