Kokura arsenal stamp and serial number 12176 to the blade, older 7845 serial number to saya / scabbard, this sword has seen most of World War Two.
The 26 1/4 inch blade is in good condition, some roughness to cutting edge section, some scratches to side, some old packing grease to bohi groove and around habaki brass blade collar. Blade firm in tsuka / hilt. The retaining bolt and nut has been period field replaced with a rivet. The spring catch is ever so slightly bent upwards. But this sword has been through the wars quite literally so these things are minimal. The sword sheathes and draws well, but the saya does not hold firm due to the slightly bent catch (it may well be possible to easily correct this).
