This one may be Gendito; we can not tell. It comes with a correct period sword knot, which is normally a sign the sword was taken from a Japanese officer (officers removed their knots on mass surrender swords), but this one was attached to the saya (the pommel is missing a sarute loop, so that may explain this). In any event, the sword has clearly seen service.

The 25 3/4 inch nagasa (cutting edge section) blade is good but has a lot of marks to it, especially one side, the very tiniest tip end gone, some abraision to cutting edge. The unsigned tang, two menuki peg holes, the hamon and some of the markings (the later seemingly ware, forging squiggles) indicate traditionally forged, but we can not be sure about / guarantee that. The furniture (regulation Japanese gunto fittings) all with age but good, untouched. The knot in good condition but broken at end. The leather field saya cover in good condition. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Maybe worth some effort, a proper professional blade polish. In any event, a really good gunto at a very reasonable price; was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference Y06. Further / full sized images available (recommended). Box 1362-118x17x15 (2.371).
