Apart from a light inert rust patch one side of the blade, this is a very good condition sword, and very well made by on of Britain’s top sword makers of the era, Pillin of Gerrard Street, Soho, London. This sword has the original owner officer’s initials (“I E T C O”) and his family crest, so get your heraldic research hats on and maybe you will work out the officer who once owned this fine sword. Serial number 32896 on spine.

The 34 1/4 inch blade is in very good condition save for said rust patch and a light speckling elsewhere. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard also in very good condition, as is the black fishskin grip and associated twisted grip wire bindings. Original sword knot sound but aged. Leather field service scabbard good but some wear especially around the chape / drag. Leather frog good but aged. The sword sheathes and draws well.
This is a quality sword with owner research potential. It is well worth was £? (too late, now sold), for sure. Please quote item reference Y02. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1383-122x14x14 (1.783)
