Engraved “Presented by Maj G S Cubitt TD”, Major Cubitt was a long standing officer / NCO training officer with the Suffolk Regiment. It is very likely the recipient of this sword was in WW1. No maker’s / retailer’s name visible.
The 32 inch blade has been replated at some stage so the etching is feint. Blade firm in hilt. The hilt with some surface opaque tarnish (can be removed) is in good condition. The black fishskin grip and twisted grip wire bindings are good. The plated steel scabbard has multiple dings, etc. The sword sheathes and draws well if a little stiff towards being fully sheathed.
Research potential and an officers name. All for was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference X67. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1324-121x19x16 (2.134).
