The blade with Germanic markings, almost certainly made in Solingen, Prussia. The lettering in the fullers / grooves, is seemingly purely decorative, to perhaps make the blade appear older. The blade with some signs of combat damage (slight nicks and forward end bending).

The 31 3/4 inch period sharpened blade is in good condition but has some small nicks, a bend towards the tip end and a steady patina. Blade firm in the hilt. The steel guard bars in good condition. The hardwood grip with wear but in good condition.
This is a lovely yet fearsome example which probably has been used in combat. A great buy at was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference X54. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1314-122x19x16 (2.317).
