This Zlatoust shaska has the rarer “tsch” III inspection marks, rather than the more common “A” marks, which makes it more desirable as a collector’s item, not least as it distances itself from the sea of reproduction shaskas (reproductions all have an “A” mark).

The 34 inch blade has some pitting towards the point but is otherwise good and firm in the hilt. The hilt is tarnished (the Zlatoust hilt mark only just visible) and aged. The wooden grip is quite aged and has a small sectional loss. The pommel is good but a little loose. The leather and metal fittings scabbard is sound but the leather is flaking and has shrunk a little; consequently if you fully sheath the blade it does become very tight.
Plenty of fakes, but we guarantee this one is authentic. A true bargain, was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference X47. Further / full sized images available upon request. Triangle 1293-105×16 (1.888).
