With correct “GR” crown mark, this cutlass was issued for Royal Naval use prior to the Battle of Trafalgar and may well have been on board one of the ships that took part in that most famous of naval battles.
The 28 1/2 period sharpened (still sharp) blade is in sound condition; there is a rust (not break line) about 3/4 the way up. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt in overall good condition. Grip in good condition. The cutlass is sound but has an almost dist like patina / light rust which we have stabilized with Renaissance Wax.
Actually well above average. These cutlasses are increasingly difficult to source; owners just don’t want to part with theirs. Be one of the lucky collecting few; yours for was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference X30. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1295-101x18x17 (1.778).
