This is a museum grade true Hounslow Hanger. Many swords claiming to be Hounslow Hangers are not; just look up these swords in the likes of “Swords and Sword Makers of England and Scotland” (Bezdek). True Hounslow Hangers are exactly the same as this or have the variant dogs head pommel. The correct blade has the correct 17C “Passau Wolf” maker’s mark, plus “Solingen”. The hilt / guard is 100% authentic and original too, as is the superb Stag’s Horn grip; all original, museum grade.
The 26 inch blade has been zealously cleaned but is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard are in amazingly good condition for a sword getting close to 400 years old. The staghorn grip (yes, they preferred these knobbly grips as the hand would not slide over it), in superb condition.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy a rare historically important condition in such good condition. Trust us, was £? (too late, now sold) is cheap; don’t haggle, don’t blink or it will be gone. Please quote item reference X23. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1264-101x19x16 (1.670).
