Supremely etched blade one side, rubbed / replated the other. None the less, a very fine rifle officer’s sword by renowned Hobson & Sons of London.

The 32 1/2 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt (etching very feint one side). The plated steel hilt in very good condition. Fishskin grip in very good condition, as are the twisted grip wire bindings (a couple of lesser strands very slightly astray). Leather with steel fittings field service scabbard in good though slightly aged condition. Sword not with age. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A very nice, well above average example. A bargain at just was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number W88. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Box 1217-101x19x16 (1.959).
