The British / South African Frontier Mounted Rifles was an effective and acclaimed regiment in the Boer War. This sword has their name etched to the blade along with the retailer Samuel Brothers of London.

The 32 1/4 inch blade is in worn but good overall condition and firm in the hilt. The guard / hilt with rust spots and patina but good. The fishskin grip with wear and a small moth hole is otherwise good. Most of the twisted grip wire bindings have gone. The leather field service scabbard is good but has period service wear, knocks, etc. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A rare sword that would have seen plenty of action in the Boer War, for just was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number W08. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Box 1165-102x19x16 (1.814).
