Marked “28 JR” then “12C 30″ to the cross guard, showing this to be weapon number 30 of Company 12, of the 28th Jager Regiment”. “S & K” to the blade shows the sword was made by Schnitzler & Kirschbaum.
The 18 1/2 inch blade is aged with patina and a little light pitting but is overall good and firm in the brass hilt. The brass hilt is overall good but has dents which show these swords were used as tools (in this case a mallet), not just as weapons.
