A scarce sword, used not in hand to hand combat, but to chop and saw through obstacles by Russian pioneer and engineer soldiers. This one, dated 1832, has very old, most likely period nicks to the forward cutting edge.
19 1/4 inch blade is in good condition though with usage wear to cutting edge. Blade firm in solid brass hilt. Hilt / grip in very good order.
