Kotah is a city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The sword is modeled on the British 1854 pattern infantry officer’s sword, but this sword was made within the British Raj (British India). It bears the central section the Kotah coat of arms which also features on their flag.
The 24 inch hand forged blade is in good condition, some light pitting and patina, a few period nicks to the cutting edge near the point, and firm in the hilt. The “gothic” brass hilt is in good order. The snakeskin leather grip is good, the twisted grip wire overall good but some lesser turns missing. The leather scabbard good for age. The sword sheathes and draws well.
