No maker’s / retailer’s details etched to ricasso indicating manufacture during height of WW1 (1917/1918).
The 31 1/4 inch blade has some rust / patina patches, but it overall good and firm in the hilt. The brass hilt is good, the folding guard section works as it should. The black fishskin grip in mostly good condition but with a couple of small wear or moth holes one side; the twisted grip wire in good order. The black leather with brass fittings scabbard aged but good. The sword sheathes and draws well, the scabbard securing pin mechanism works well. The all weather bag with age / wear but sound.
Junior officer black fishskin swords are much scarcer than white fishskin officer swords. This one can be yours for was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference R96. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 0598-1m (1.951).
