By repute / according to the attached label, the former property of “Major-General Cuthbert G. Fuller, CB, CMG, DSO, Colonel Commandant Royal Engineers”; read about him here. The ricasso / forte etched to maker / retailer / outfitters “J. DANIELS & CO LTD, 62 PALL MALL, LONDON”. We have no further provenance (except we bought it from a quality / renowned auction house not given to either embellishment. Accredited faux ivory grip, so no certificate required and OK to export.
The 33 inch well etched blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt with general staff’s crossed baton and sword to the cartouche is in very good condition also. The faux / imitation ivory grip “scales” (sides) are very good but one side has a glued back break; all four rosettes present. The original sword knot is aged and a bit worn / grubby but good / sound. The steel scabbard is good but with cleaned light rust patina towards the chape. The sword sheathes and draws well.
