Blue and gilt etched Georgian / Napoleonic British infantry officer’s sword. Ivory grip and brass scabbard for a senior officer. Retailer’s / maker’s rubbed / feint details to the scabbard. Several old / period small nicks to the blade’s cutting edge speak of battle use (e.g. Peninsular War, Waterloo / 100 Days War). Circa 1810. Ivory exemption certificate reference: KWTFZDR4
The 26 1/2 inch curved blue and gilt etched blade is aged / worn with several old / period small nicks to the cutting edge but is generally good plus firm in the hilt. The stirrup hilt’s cross guard is bent slightly downwards (being brass, it may be possible to safely correct this), otherwise good. The ivory grip is mostly good, some age discoloration, a small chip one side under the pommel; the main twisted grip wire binding remains. The brass scabbard is sound but has many small dents and age. The saber sheathes and draws well.
