A fine British light cavalry officer’s mameluke sabre, aged, but very good. With the royal cypher of King William IV etched both sides of the specialist / bespoke biconvex “Percy” blade.
Ivory grip UK CITES exemption certificate number KL4UC22V
NB: the black patch you can see on the long shot of the blade is actually the reflection of an electric plug; the blade is that good.
The 31 1/8 inch blade is slightly worn / aged but in very good condition, and firm in the hilt. The gilt brass hilt and cross guard are in good order. The ivory grip with age cracks (to be expected for nearly 200 year old ivory) is nonetheless good with brass grip rosetts (studs) in place. The steel with brass fittings scabbard is good, but aged. The sword sheathes and draws well.
