VGC = Very Good Condition. Blade’s serial number 26254 for 1885; unfortunately, the Wilkinson sales ledger does not name the buyer / officer.
The 32 7/8 exceptionaly well etched (including Coldstream Guards badge and their battle honours) dress weight slender blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The plated steel hilt with Coldstream Guards badge to the guard’s cartouche is in good condition, some age / wear etc. The black fishskin grip is good but with some age and wear, particularly under the pommel; the twisted grip wire bindings are good but with a lesser strand here and there slightly astray. The steel scabbard is good despite the patina patches towards the chape. The sword sheathes and draws well.
