In very good condition, an 1820’s Colonial British Guard’s Pipeback Sabre

Likely made for a bodyguard of an Indian Maharaja, or possibly a North African prince / ruler given the blade’s curvature and apparent lack of etching to the feint tablet sections of that blade. Note: the grip’s leather appears not to be cow hide (very important for Hindus). This is a very very well made sabre (note also the special pipe back scabbard mouth), too short for mounted use, so likely to be a royal bodyguard’s sword, or maybe an army foot sergeant’s sabre. No maker’s or retailer’s marks, but obviously English made. Clearly used with small period nicks (no burr, patina in the nicks themselves) to the cutting edge.
The 30 1/4 inch highly curved pipe back blade is in very good condition save for a couple of period small nicks; firm in the hilt. The steel guard is very good, as is the hilt in total. Leather grip and twisted grip wire bindings show some wear / age but are good. The steel scabbard has a couple of dings (small dents) but is still very good. The sabre sheathes and draws very well.
