Lion’s head langets for the East Indian Company. Ivory grip (certificate number P4EZ15LR) for a senior officer. The drag type of the scabbard shows the original owner was a mounted officer. Circa 1840.
The 31 1/2 inch blade has a few small patches of patina / pitting but remains good for its age and firm in the hilt. The gilt brass hilt has age but is good. The ivory grip has yellowed with age, plus there are some very small chips gone under the pommel, otherwise very good for its age. The leather and brass scabbard has age (leather especially) but remains sound and quite good. The sword sheathes and draws a little tightly due to leather shrinkage, but well enough.
Scarce early to mid 1800’s British Senior EIC officer’s sword in good condition for its age, was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AJ19. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box?
