Note: the previous owner bolted and glued the tsuka / nakago firm; we were told there are characters on the nakago but are unwilling to try and remove the tsuka / hilt and grip. We are certain the blade is traditionally made, which has a feint hamon in places. The blade otherwise seems quite good; ask for and see photos. We believe the blade is trqaditionally made / forged and high quality (not least based on the quality kashira, fuchi, etc.) but are not prepared to strip it down / state it as such.
The 25 inch nagasa (cutting edge section excluding habaki) blade has some wear / seemingly forging marks / patches but remains good. Blade firm / secured in the tsuka / grip. The furniture (same, ito, tsuba, etc.) are good but appear glued in places. The saya has been glued / repaired but is quite good, The sword sheathes and draws well.
Potentially a great sword / blade; well worth the was £? (too late, now sold) purchase price. Please quote item reference AJ17. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box?
