Engraved ” “E P Goldsmith, R.N.” to the folding guard for Edward Philip Goldsmith, born 1887, died 1935. No maker’s / retialer’s name.
A perfect sword from some home TLC refurbishment and research potential.
The 30 15/16 inch well etched blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The gilt brass hilt / guard has antique tarnish but is sound good. Sword knot is aged and fraying but sound for now. The black leather and gilt brass fittings scabbard has tarnish / age to the fittings but is very good otherwise for its age. Bottom section of carry case is as seen. The sword sheathes and draws well; the folding guard section of the hilt works and locates onto the scabbard’s retaining pin.
