VGC = Very Good Condition. Serial number 30806 for 1891. Blank ricasso, so was made for a retailer.
The slender levee weight 33 inch well etched blade is in very good condition but the point area has some age. Blade firm in the hilt. The “gothic” gilt brass hilt with VR cypher to the guard’s cartouche is good but for a despression in the backpiece. The black fishskin grip and and twisted grip wre bindings are both good, though the fishskin is a little faded. The brass scabbard for a senior officer is mostly very good for its age; some age / wear towards the chape. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A truly beautiful sword in VGC; well worth our price tag of £550. Please quote item reference AJ11. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 2256 102 x 13 x 13 (1.72).
