Unigned / signed in that there is a smith’s name marked to the blade but it is not chisled / likely was not done by the blade smith; it is retrospectively and feintly inscribed / “signed” and dated. The date is Februay 1945, the claimed smith’s name likely Kaneyoshi; it is too feint to be sure. There is no doubt however that this was done in Japan late in WW2 in 1945. The blade has an etched hamon (it is likely a mass produced blade). A katana length blade.
The 26 5/8 inch nagasa (cutting edge section excluding habaki) blade is overall in very good condition save for some slight damage to the cutting edge, plus some minor wear / spots elsewhere. The tsuka (grip / hilt) components are good, some light wear. The saya / scabbard is good, some age / wear. The locking mechanism is present but slightly out; the sword needs sheathing with care.
