VGC = Very Good Condition. Etched to Wilkinson Sword at the forte / ricasso but no serial number, so perhaps one of their sales samples. In any event, supremely well etched to the Royal Scots. NB These hilts are held on by a screw pommel (done so a cross hilt guard can be substituted – no, there is no cross guard included) which can loosen to remove the hilt / guard and be tightened back.
The 32 inch well etched blade is in very good condition save for some spots around the royal cypher, plus is firm in the hilt. The plated steel basket hilt is a little dull (steady light age patina) but good (if you remove the hilt and use a good polish such as Simichrome, it would likely come up as new). The crimson basket hilt cloth insert is a little faded etc. but good. The crimson tassle also good. The faux fishskin grip is good, as are the associated twisted grip wire bindings. The leather with plated steel chape leather scabbard has a little age and wear but remains good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
