Scarce plain bladed version of the British 1854p infantry officer’s sword. This one appears to have been refurbished during its service life. Blade dated on the spine to 1899 and made by EFD (Enfield).

The 32 3/8 inch plain blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The gilt brass hilt / guard is in very good condition. The fishskin grip appears to be a service replacement and is in very good condition, as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The grip has a bowing type gap with the backpiece, the pommel nipple with recessed tang pin. The field service leather scabbard is aged but good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
