The blade’s spine engraved “manfre du imple klingenthal coulaux et cie”, an earlier version of Klingenthal inscriptions dating back to around 1810; this An XI has likely survived several Napoleonic wars / battles. Its blade’s original inspection stamps (poinçons) have been cleaned off mostly, but the remains of one (probably the Lobstein poinçon) is still showing, although the hilt’s / guard’s poinçons are still present. The “33” marking is a regimental weapon number. The steel scabbard, while authentic and period, may well be a regimental replacement. The heavy brass hilt / guard has eggshell effect age / wear.
NB Light cavalry An XIs like this one are much scarcer than the heavy cavalry An XIII and so sell, normally, as a price premium.
PS This Napoleonic sword is guaranteed authentic / period.

The cleaned 34 1/2 inch period sharpened curved blade is in bright good condition generally, plus firm in the hilt. The brass hilt / guard with some sopeckled age / wear and small fracture cracks (none appear to be complete) is nonetheless good. The original ribbed leather grip is aged and worn but in well above average condition, plus both brass grip “olives” are present (many came out and were lost). The heavy steel scabbard has age / some patina but is good. THe sabre sheathes and draws well.
