An earlier K S & Comp (Kirschbaum, Schnitzler & Cie.) of Solingen bladed French An XI light caalry trooper’ssword with Versailles hilt / guard. There is a feint French acceptance / inspection mark to the blade’s forte; that of Simon Ferdinand BEAUMARETZ, dating the blade from September 1803 to June 1807, so the blade / sword has some history for sure! Before France and Prussia became enemies, a lot of French blades and even swords were made in Solingen. The Versailles hilt is apparently original to the blade / sword.
As the sword has been in the UK for as long as can be remembered, it is almost certainly a Battle of Waterloo bring back war trophy.

The 34 3/4 inch blade is in very good condition except for a series of nicks to the forward cutting edge. Blade firm in the hilt. The brass hilt / guard in very good condition. The original leather grip is aged but in very good condition, plus both brass grip “olives” are still there! The heavy steel scabbard is also in very good condition for its age (over 200 years old!); one throat tightening screw absent. The sabre / sword sheathes and draws well, if a tad tightly when fully sheathed (no bad thing).
One of the best An XI’s you are ever likely to get the chance to own; don’t lose out at only was £? (too late, now sold). P|lease quote item reference AI19. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1935 111 x 17 x 17 (3.665).
