Fairly common sword BUT not in such good condition and with the locking pin mechanism intact and working. Etched at the forte / ricasso “PARKER FIELD & SONS 233 Holborn London”.
The 24 inch blade is in very good condition, some patina / staining but not much, and firm in the hilt. The gilt brass hilt / guard a little aged but very good, as is the black fishskin grip; the locking pin mechanism is good and working. The leather and brass scabbard is a little aged with some wrinkles, scuffs and a near kink, but is overall good for its age (about 160 years old). The sword sheathes and draws well.
A reall above average exmple and well worth our was £? (too late, now sold) price tag. Please quote item reference AI14. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1933 79 x 13 x 11 (1.546).
