The Worcestershire Hussars / Yeomanry were perhaps the cream of the British yeomanry cavalry, being also known as the Queen’s Own Worcestershire Hussars and Worcestershire Imperial Yeomanry at various times. This sword is marked to maker Wilkinson on one side of the blade’s forte, “WORcs YEO” the other.
The 34 3/4 inch blade has a pleasing thrush like speckled patina, is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt / bowl guard with a pleasing bronze like age tarnish is also in good condition. The composite checkered grip is also good. The steel scabbard, also marked “WORcs YEO” and numbered “121” is aged / worn / a little bashed in placs, but still good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
