Guaranteed authentic; NOT one of the countless fakes / reproductions. Remains of early Georgian GR Crown mark and (too little to ascertain) maker’s name. It has been zealously cleaned but the age is apparent. It may well have been made and assigned to a Royal Navy ship before the Battle of Trafalgar and who knows?! But its history is lost to the winds of time.
The 28 inch blade has some pitting and has been cleaned bright; firm in the hilt. The iconic Figure of Eight guard has also been cleaned but is still in good order. The chequered / “pineapple” grip is in good condition. There is n scabbard.
Authentic RN 1804p cutlasses like this with the GR crown blade mark are very scarce. So look around and you will agree, our price tag of was £? (too late, now sold) is especially good. Please quote item reference AH75. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1850 86 x 12 x 14 (1.46).
