In good condition, a 1796p Napoleonic Blue & Gilt British Infantry Officer’s Sword

With much original blue and gilt etching remaining, the twisted silver metal grip intact, and complete original scabbard, this is indeed a scarce 1796 pattern British infantry officer’s sword. Blade by Runkell of Solingen (the sword itself likely made by a quality British cutler), bearing a post 1801 British Royal Coat of Arms. This pattern of sword was used throughout the Napoleonic wars, including Waterloo (100 Days War).
The 32 inch blade is aged with some rust (primarily around the edges), but is in god condition generally and firm in the hilt. Hilt / guard good; the folding section of the guard works well. The silver wire grip is good. The leather and copper / brass scabbard is aged, the leather with age cracks and wear (especially towards the chape), but sound. The sword sheathes and draws well except for the last 1/2 inch which is very tight.
