Possibly in good enough condition with some TLC (metal finishing polish, etc.) for a serving officer. Serial number 86789 for 1964.
The 32 inch blade with Royal Corps of Signals badge (Mercury) over motto “Certa Cito” (Swift and Sure) is in overall good condition, some black patina / inert rust patching near the tip and small patches mostly along the edge. Blade firm in the hilt and grip. Plated steel hilt / guard mostly good, some light surface wear scratches, some small spots of rust coming through. The black faux fishskin grip and associated white twisted grip wire bindings are good. The leather field service scabbard is generally good, some light surfaces scrapes (leather balsam would probably totally correct this). The leather knot is aged and dry. Black all weather carry bag generally good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Very nice scarce example. Grab it quick at just was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AH60. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1820-107x17x15 (1.963)
