We believe the hilt / grip and scabbard to be original, with a later replacement blade. We can find no matches with any reproductions (Google around and you will see) BUT are selling it at a reproduction price on an as is basis as we can not verify it. Again, we believe the hilt and scabbard are original (see the wear on the grip for one), but the blade is definitely not an original An XI blade (marked “AP” with circle).
The 35 inch sharpened blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt guard with age (tarnish) is in good condition. The leather grip with some age cracking and wear is still good, and both brass grip “olives” are still present. The heavy steel scabbard also with some age and small rust patching is good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Hmmm, we think this is a bargain, was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AH52. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box n/a
