Quillon lacking. Pulford & Sons were a quality sword cutler, amongst other things. No royal cypher, so almost guaranteed to date to the time of Queen Victoria’s death (early 1901).

The 32 3/4 inch blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt and guard. The special 2nd Life Guards hilt with folding guard section retains much gilt and is in very good condition but no quillon (it looks like it was made without one, perhaps to the officer’s specification / requirement). The twisted silver metal wire grip is good but there is a little movement and a subsequent very small gap just under the pommel. The patent leather scabbard with brass chape and upper mount is a little scuffed in places but good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
VGC example of a very attractive Life Guards officer’s dress sword, £650. Please quote item reference AH51. Further / full sized photos available upon request. Box 1801-105x15x14 (1.475)
