Spanish blade, almost certainly Spanish made, but the hilt / guard is in the British style. Blade etched with Venezuelan coat of arms and “Cipriano Castro Al Ejercito Liberal Restaurador”, for then President Cipriano Castro dating it from 1899 to 1908.
The 31 inch deep etched blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt / grip. The hilt has lost most of its gilt but remains good. The fishskin grip is in good conditionbut the twisted grip wire bindings have some strands missing and some loose. The scabbard with minor dings and wear is good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
