The blade has been overly cleaned; it once would have had blue and gilt etching. Now, only a few patina patches attest to its age. The blade is original to the sword and has not been re-seated as far as can be seen. The hilt and scabbard clearly show the saber is original and over 200 years old, though only the scabbard has suffered the test of time and use. The history of and



The 32-inch blade has been cleaned bright, has a few patina spots, and is firm in the hilt and grip. The hilt / guard is in good condition. The original leather grip is good, most of the associated grip wire bindings are present and good. The steel scabbard has multiple dents / dings and the throat piece is missing. The sword sheathes and draws loosely.
