Percy = biconvex blade, an expensive option for RN officers. Scabbard locket to “E & W Seagrove, Naval and Military Outfitters, 22 & 23 Hard, Portsea” dating the sword from 1852 to 1866. This is the former property of a very well healed / well to do naval officer.

The 30 3/4 inch blade is good but has deep black patina patches corresponding with the leather sections of the scabbard (leather absorbs moisture, which steel does not like), some etching still clear, firm in the hilt. The hilt in aged but good condition, the folding guard section (earlier type without locating hole) works well. The grip a little grubby but good; the associated twisted grip wire bindings also good. The leather and brass fittings scabbard with some age, the leather beginning to buckle one place in particular. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A great Percy bladed sword at a very good price, only was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AG59. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1496-117x15x14 (1.817).
