This dirk clearly was not made solely for dress purposes. It was probably worn as a weapon of last defense by a British naval officer during the Napoleonic wars. Circa 1800, it almost certainly was around at the time of the Battle of Trafalgar.

The 11 1/2 inch blade with a full length central fuller has a steady patina and some pitting; it is firm in the hilt. The hilt in good order. The ivory grip with hairline age cracks is good for its age.
A true Napoleonic fighting dirk and at a low price, was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AG04. Full sized images available upon request. Box 1323-53x18x9 (0.601)
