No Broad arrow to the cross guard, so a private purchase, a commando officer’s F-S fighting knife. Y shaped forte, so hand ground blade. Plenty of period wear and some damage, so this knife saw very active, perhaps fatal (for a German or more) duty.
6 Inch blade, still sharp, with slight damage to tip (very slight bending) and cutting edge one side (some “roughness” commensurate with intended use), in otherwise good condition; some original blackening remaining. Chequered brass grip with some slight damage (dent) and wear, in overall good condition; some original blackening also remaining. Cross guard good. Leather and metal fittings sheath very worn, the elastic retaining strap broken (common for knives that have seen active service). The knife sheathes and draws well.
If you like mint knives that never left stores, this is not for you. If you like knives with clear active use, this is as good as they come. Yours for was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AF89, Further / full sized images available upon request. Tube 1282-51×8 (0.478).
