The blade of this An xi was made by Kirschbaum Schimmelbusch and Companie of Solingen from 1807 to 1813 (while Solingen was under French control), more often associated with officer’s swords, these K S & Co bladed trooper’s sabers are highly prized. The hilt / guard by Versailles. An xi sabres / sabers bought in the UK (as we bought this one) is generally a sign that the sword is a British bring back battle trophy, most likely from Waterloo.
The 34 3/8 inch blade is in very good condition but has perhaps been zealously cleaned. Blade firm in grip and hilt. The hilt / guard with some minor dents and wear but overall very good. The original leather grip mostly aged but good, with one very small patch gone. The heavy steel scabbard in very good condition. The sword sheathes and draws well. Various markings throughout.
