From around the time of Bavaria’s disastrous war with Austria, this rare sabre has some period nicks etc. (as well as some later nicks) to the forward cutting edge.
The 34 inch blade is sound with a steady dark patina, a little loose in the grip, more so with the hilt. he hilt overall is good but has knuckle bow damage (it has come away from the back piece). The ebonized wooden grip has a section missing on the underside.
OK, it has been through the wars, quite literally, but just try getting another! Yours for was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number AF28. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Box 1089-121x19x16 (2.170).
